On paper, every line you make with a pen is permanent. There’s no Cmd+Z. Every stroke you make has to be intentional and considered because once it’s done, there is no going back.
You only need to experience the pain of coming to the end of a design and messing up a line after 3 hours of painstakingly meticulous drawing, and you’ll do everything in your power to never experience it again.
The attention to detail that designing on paper requires has impacted the way I approach digital designs immeasurably.
Taking careful consideration for every stroke and spending time thinking about the composition of the design in detail before putting pen to paper to ensures that when I start the design, I’ve got a clear vision of how I expect the final finished piece to look like.
